In 2023, global markets braced for low economic growth and recession, but the situation shifted. Significant fiscal stimulus, along with robust consumer spending, drove this change. Additionally, a quicker-than-expected global decline in inflation sparked expectations of rate cuts by central banks in 2024.
Looking ahead, the economic outlook for key global markets is notably more subdued. We expect inflation and economic growth to slow, diminishing the tailwinds for growth and risk assets. We advise investors to exercise caution, anticipating challenges from decelerating growth, high asset valuations, and geopolitical risks. Furthermore, the potential impact of many elections happening worldwide in 2024 cannot be overlooked.
